This custom-built residence was built in 1930 for irene smith gobrecht and her mother, sarah adora brown smith on 2. 3 acres of land subdivided from the adjacent elmore smith farm. The bungalow, below and to the east predated the subdivision and was originally a seasonal bungalow offered by the smiths as a rental to summer visitors. It was converted to a year-round residence by robert (son of irene) and his wife jean gobrecht in 1946. The family moved to a nearby property in 1955 and it began a sixty-year term as a rental. It was expanded to include a very large living room to the south on the early 1970s. Robert and jean, with their two children, larry and laurel moved to the main house in 1967 after the passing of irene foley. Robert gobrecht died in 1995 and his wife jean died in 2006. Both houses have undergone extensive restoration and upgrading over the years. Four generations of smiths have resided on this property.
